Promotion and relegation was decided in a series of Test Matches between the bottom three clubs in the First Division and the top three clubs in the Second Division. The third from bottom club in the First Division played the third club in the Second Division, the second from bottom in the First Division played the second club in the Second Division and the bottom club in the First Division played the top club in Second Division in one-off matches at neutral venues with the winners playing in the First Division the following season and the losers in the Second Division. |
