Election for First Division Membership

At the end of the 1914/15 Season, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur filled the bottom two places and were due to be replaced by Second Division Derby County and Preston North End, however the 1915/16 Season was cancelled due to the First World War, when the League returned, the Division was extended to 22 clubs, Chelsea were given one of those places without a vote whilst Tottenham Hotspur had to re-apply in a vote with 6 Second Division clubs.
