The bottom two clubs were required to seek re-election to the League. With the end of the regionalised Third Divisions the bottom two in the Northern & Southern sections joined together in the vote for League membership with the 12 non-league clubs who applied to join the League.

 - The Football League ended its regionalised Third Division North and South and reverted to 2 national Divisions - the Third Division and Fourth Division, the North and South split its teams with the higher placed teams playing in the new Third Division and the bottom half placed teams were placed in the new Fourth Division.

 - Southport were Re-Elected to the League

 - Crewe Alexandra were Re-Elected to the League
